Back to Bangkok... Again!

We're back i Bangkok again! Oh yes!! It's Monday and we fly out in 3 days!!! Oohhhh! We're sooo ready to come home now!! 6 months has been enough for ths time!

The weather is crap here, overcast, humid and hot! Luckily we have an a/c room and have a place to hide out!!! Our landlady is the sweetest thing too! Shows us that Thais can be sincere and nice too!

Went to the Weekend Market yesterday - wow! It's the biggest market in the world...probably! Soooo cooool! Got lots of nice pressies and had some lovely Frappaccinos and felt pretty great about ourselves : )

Next couple of days will hopefully consist of some more shopping, eating and drinking, and I was thinking masages/facials/pedicures...! Wonder if Col will agree to all this!!!

Time to head out for the daily dosage of Red Curry I think...! MMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Here's Dragon and Tiger

they're a bit cooool!!

4 nights in a row....

OK, we're officially cinema fanatics!!!

Last night we saw Dragon Tiger Gate... The trailer is kind of better than the whole film... Col says Chinese cinema isn't about the plot line but the scenes.... Makes sense!

The night before we saw Slither!! Ems, it's damn funny!!!! Best 'horror' we've seen in a looong while! Really recommend it! I mean, it's just like an 80's horror! Very much like Shaun of the Dead!!! Sooo funny!!! Gonna get the DVD in Bangkok, definately!

Col's Top 20 Wind-Ups/Surprises

...for the airport (we will get picked up by Mum and Trev!)

 1 - Stick a cushion up Jessie's shirt and pretend she's pregnant

2 - Wear some matching rings and pretend we got married

3 - Come back with a Thai Girl instead of Jessie

4 - Come back with a Thai Girl as well as Jessie

5 - Borrow someone's Newborn Baby to walk in with

6 - Arrive in Malay dress and pretend we have converted to Islam

7 - Find a wheelchair and pretend Jessie's been horribly crippled

8 - Tuck my arm inside my shirt and pretend I lost it in Vietnam

9 - Arrive in handcuffs and pretend I've been arrested for smuggling

10 - Bring back an army of children and pretended we've adopted them

11 - Only Jessie could turn up and pretend she lost me in Thailand

12 - Wear all of my clothes and pretend I got really fat

13 - Grow a very perculiar mustache - the horror!

14 - Get some enormous Henna tattoos and pretend they are real

15 - Come back in rags and claim we have lived this way for months

16 - Ring Mum's mobile at the airport and tell her that we have changed our mind about coming back

17 - I could come back in women's clothes and pretend I'm now a Ladyboy

18 - Say I photoshopped the pictures and that we have been living in England all this time

19 - Pretend that me and Jessie have been arguing for 6 months and that we refuse to speak to one another

20 - Send some friends back instead of us and pretend we have changed a lot

Col is forgiven....

...for switching off my computer as he sent me this cute kitten in a pie!!!

(We haven't gone mad, honest!)

More cinema....

Nacho Libre - oh my goodness! Jack Black is hilarious!

An American Haunting - don't see it!!! Worst film in a long time... Even worse than Superman!

Tonight we're gonna go and see some more rubbish, either Slither, The Voice or The Dorm.....

Singapore

Had such a great time in Singapore, just got back last night. Wow, we could live there! So green and modern, and all the old buildings look great too. Best Chinatown in the world??

Wrote a really funny and interesting entry about this but Col accidently switched my 'puter off, so I have no energy to write it again (also, my coffee rush is wearing off!) Bit shopped out too, spent yesterday in malls in Singers and today here in KL in the Golden Triangle (millions of massive malls) - and what have I bought?? Nothing, bloody nothing!!! Damn it!! Seen lots of nice stuff, but it just didn't fit right... And I can't decide what I want to get from Vincci (the best shoe shop in Asia)......

And.... it's just 1 week left of our travels!!!!!

Melaka - Just Like Europe!

Had a few days in Malaysia's former capital Melaka. It's a very pretty town and has old houses (for Asia anyway).

The Town Square could be anywhere in Europe really! Pretty cool to see! Seems like the old fort and grave stones have been replaced though.... In Asia old just isn't acceptable, they like their old stuff to look new! Hopefully the things they've replaced are stored in a museum somewhere....!

Were meant to head off to a Waterworld Park place today, but we left it for another time. Col's last experience (when he got some weird decease) in Spain kind of put us off too...

Off to Singers tomorrow.. Known as Singapore to the non-traveller...Hmm.. (The cool names don't really do a lot for me!) The whole country has a Massive Sale on so we're looking forward to it! Should afford to eat now then!!! Or maybe they only have the sale on for computers and stuff... How disappointing that would be!

Will let you know how it was when we get back to KL which should be on the 26th or 27th or so : )

11 Days until we fly!!! Woooohooo!

Rolling Bones...Oh yes!!!

Ohhhh!!! Managed to get tickets for The Rolling Stones final UK concert of their tour!!! Cooool!! It's for Col's birthday, but a little bit for me too of course! Keith is coming along too, so it'll be a proper road trip. Wonder if we should take the bug maybe??? I wonder if the bug even moves these days or if it's turned into a rusty old thing... Ohhh... Poor bug, all deserted....

Beachy day in Penang

I thinbk we've had our last beachy day now..! Until Sweden anyway!!!

So happy, just found out that Johan and Lisa have taken an extra weeks holiday for when we're in Sweden!!! Wooooohhooooo!!! Oh, it's just perfect! And Karro isn't off to Greece until we've left!

Everything is working out perfectly!!!

Have also found the best birthday pressie for Col, tickets for Stones!!! Just waiting for Keith to sort out who else wants to come! Might just have to buy 4 tickets and let the 4th person fight for it! Unless you want it Ems??!

Had a lovely few days on this Chinese-y island of Penang. Off tomorrow though - Melacca is next, it's a few hours south of KL and used to be the capital... Then Singapore!! So cool!

Keith Richards injured??

When did this happen?? What was he doing?!

"Some would say he's been out of his tree for years. But things certainly looked bleak for Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards in April when he fell off a branch in Fiji and had to have an operation on his brain."

Smelly Weirdoes...

That's it!!!! I've reached the very limit of how many Idiot Travellers I can talk to in a lifetime!!! Bloody weirdoes have taken over this planet I think!!! Especially at the pretty cool guest house we've stayed at in KL.... Haven't met a single normal person there yet!The ones we have met, well, they all Smell and they're all Weird!!!! Grrrrr! Get me out of here!!!!! !

(PS The Smelly Weirdo slogan obviously does not apply to any of the Cool Travellers we've met along the way - if you were indeed smelly or weird we wouldn't have given you this blog address! Ahh! Bless!)

Don't Move Or I'll Shoot!

Films...

So we watched a few more...!

Superman Returns - just watch an old one, this is just the same.... bit boring to say the least.... (Don't waste your money on it!)

Inside Man - Cooool!

Hmmm... Can't remember the rest... T B C!

Pool!

Forgot to say! The last few days in Bali we stayed in a place with a pool! The luxuary!!!

20 Favourite Songs of all time

Damn that Emma! She's got my brain going now! Her and her mates are doing CDs of their Top 20 songs ever, and I'm trying to compose one too.... And just thought that everyone out there should do the same!!! I mean, what else is there to worry about?!?! So shall I have The Smiths or Morrissey in there??! Tricky trick!

20 days left....

..until we're back in Engeland! Unreal! So looking forward to it now though! And Sweden in a month! Cool!

Yesterday and today have been pretty cool days. Just settling back into KL life, meaning Shopping Malls and Cinema. Today has been a little different though, we headed out of the city in the morning to Batu Caves, a holy Hindu site. Veeery nice indeed! It took all my strenght to climb up into the cave though. Col being superfit like he is just sprinted up!! Maybe if I'd been carrying all my stuff around the last 6 months (instead of Col), well, maybe I'd have sprinted up there too! Hmm!

Have booked tickets up north for the morning. Going to an island called Penang and the town of Georgetown. I think it was the first place which got colonised by the Brits, and should be really pretty. I'm hoping for cooler, fresher weather too. Never thought I'd say it, but this heat here, well, I just can't cope with it! Can't sleep at night, it's not me at all!

Gonna research Waterparks now! Wooohhh!

Take The Lead

Went and hid out in the KLCC again last night, and ended up in the cinema, hmm, how did that happen again?? Anyway, we saw Take The Lead with Antonio Banderas, pretty cool film! I wanna dance like them! Soo, when we get back to London Town, it's courses for us all the way : )

Just cross fingers we'll get a teacher like Antonio...!

Last leg of our journey...

We're back in Kuala Lumpur now, and it's only about 20 days until we fly home! Already!

Had a lovely few days in Bali, lots of shopping. Had to buy a new bag and had to pay lots of money for excess luggage! Damn that Air Asia (Ryanair of the East). Got mainly presents, had such fun choosing them too! Especially Col I think!

Haven't been up to much else since we arrived (yesterday at 2am), it's just too hot and humid here! Have been hiding out in AC Shopping malls, been to the cinema, watched the second Pirates of the Caribbean. A bit long but a few good laughs (Jack scewered and any scene running!) Might go again tonight... Just too tempting... Planning our last leg of the journey too. Will head north for Penang, then south for Melaka then onto Singapore and Bangkok. Just can't believe we're so near the end. Looking forward to it lots though! No more cockroaches (right Jules?!) in the showers! Wow! And Sez's wedding! Cool! Gonna be such a great one! And the holiday in Sweden after that of course : ) Might help Karro out whilst she goes on holiday too, serve a bit of coffee and eat some waffles, I can handle that! Col can take the orders, he's Swedish is just about as good as mine now : ) Bit proud! Might have to go out in the world now.... But the AC is so nice in here.......Hmmmmmmm....! I hear there's a waterpark nearby - wooohoooo!

Jack running...

Hahhah! No one can run like Jack Sparrow!

Tulanben Shipwreck Diving

Hey up!

We've been away for a few days! Firstly we headed inland to Ubud which is the cultural and artistic centre of Bali! Wow, what a place! I could live here, for a little while at least!!! So pretty, but a tad too touristy for my liking. Filled of idiots, oh well, no place can be perfect! Had a lovely day at Studio Perak where we tried our hands on silver-smithing! I made a pendant with Moonstone and Col forged the One Ring. Really good fun! So many nice things in the shop too! Ooooohhhh! If only I'd had more time! Just couldn't decide on what to buy! Almost got killed by an ozzie woman who was also doing the course. She was trying her outmost to bore me to death! Dam!

After Ubud and a Culture Show, we headed to the coast again: Tulamben on the east side of Bali for some much needed Scuba diving! So cool to do it again! The first dive was on a wreck from the 2nd World War (US LIberty ship). It was amazing! It only completely sunk in the 60s when there was a massive volcano eruption in the area and since then coral and fics have taken over the place! Magic! Saw some cool stuff and even a turtle, lucky us! The second dive was along a Coral Wall, now this is what I call spectacular!! As we first entered the water we came across another wall, a school of Jackfish (pretty big silvery fish), There were so many it was like they were the wall! Had a bit of fun trying to get into the water on both of these dives cos we started off from land and just walked in... and there were waves! Big ones!!! Hhehe!

Oh, and before we went to Ubud, did I mention we went horse riding?!?! Along a black sanded beach, through some villages, along rice fields and through a river!!! We're spoiling ourselves a little! Were meant to go quadbiking tomorrow, but haven't got enough time. Have to leave it for the UK and maybe Col's bro's will come along too.

Seperated at Birth??

Guess what we saw....

Dragons!!!!

Wohhhooooo!!! What a cool few days we've had!!! We've made the last of our long excursion (as only a month left on this trip!) and it took us almost all the way to Oz! Well, Komodo Island and Flores anyway!!!

Komodo Island is, of course, named after the gigantic monitor lizards who inhabit the island and is 4 hours boat journey from another iskand called Flores. We opted for flying to Flores as the boat journey takes 3 days vs 1.5 hours by plane... Not a very difficult choice really! Arrived in the very quiet town of Luan Bajo, checked into a lovely little place called Gardena, booked our boat to Komodo and then relax! So great! Bit of a difference to Bali to say the least. Not a lot of travellers seem to have enough time to make it this far. Had lots of hassles though... another bad planning from us, and a bit of misleading info from some guys in Bali. We were told that there were 2 banks in town and one ATM. After paying for the boat to Komodo Island and finding out that the National Park charges $15 entrance fee, we were left with little money... We still had to purchase our return plane ticket as well... So...Off to the bank we go!!! Oh, we live in such a different world we don't even know it's Saturday and all banks are closed of course! Drama drama! We go and see the airline people instead and cross our fingers we can pay by card. When we get to their office, which is nothing more than your average falling down garden shed, well, we loose hope a little. Turns out to book a plane ticket here though all you have to do is write your name down on a list, and come and buy the ticket and reconfirm that the flight actually will leave the day before! No money needed until then! Wahoo! We're saved! For now anyway! All will be sorted on Monday when the bank reopens : ) We hope!

Had a magical day on Komodo Island. We were slightly comatosed when our skipper picked us up at 4.30 am. It hadn't been a good night... Think we had 2 hours sleep at the most... The England supporters were veeery loud! Had decided not to watch the game as it was on too late, and wanted to be rested for the trip... Oh well! Shame England lost on penalties again! What's that about?! Luckily we had chartered a boat all to ourselves (living the high-life like one should!), and could lie in the front of the boat and nap under the stars. Well, for a while... Then the waves got a bit scary and we had to hold on for dear life! Almost fell out of the boat!!! Fun fun!!!

When we finally reached Komodo we were so excited! Had a chat with the park office then our ranger took us on a nice walk...Felt like Lord of the Rings! Col Gandalf of course! We even had little walking sticks (which doubles up as a defensive, super genious stick too!) Everything feels and looks so ancient! We were trying to spot Dragons ofcourse but didn't have much luck... Saw lots of other stuff though, cool birds and a few snakes. One was a biggy! I think it was a Brown Snake (the most poisionous snake in the world, glad I didn't know about them being there until we saw it! I would have been very paranoid!) Our guide jumped a mile and almost wet himself!!! Ahh! Hahaha! Then the nervous laughter! Heheh! Eventually we managed to see a Komodo, but it was a baby and it was running the other way!!!! Damn! It was really the wrong time of year as it's the mating season, but oh well, with tears in our eyes we returned to the office. And good news reach us! Someone has spotted a male Dragon by the Staff Canteen! And WOW!!!!!! It's the biggest thing ever!!! Amazing! Sod the walk, we sould have had a cuppa and waited for it!!! We even got to play with its tail a little! Have to remember that these dinosaurs of lizards actually can kill you....Then we heard that there was another one on the beach! WOoooooooow!!!! Like the coolest day of our lives I think!!!! We were so happy, so happy!!!

After Komodo we did some snorkelling jsut off the coast in a place called Red Beach! My god! As if this day couldn't get any better!!! The most amazing Coal garden I have ever seen, anywhere in the world!!! It was absolutely amazing! Any colour and shape, and in perfect condition too! Don't tell anyone though cos they'll go there and it'll get ruined!

When we got back to Flores I slept for something like 14 hours! Still recovering really! Nevermind eh?! Luckily Col's reading a good book and doesn't notice if I'm there or not!!

Anyhow, yesterday was Monday and we had to sort our money problems out... Did find a bank and did get money! We were so happy yet again!!! Our address will not have to be Flores after all! Not that I would have minded too much! Banks at home should follow the Indonesian way too, free tea and coofee AND cakes! Now, that's something : )
