Phnom Penh

It's Thursday and we've been here almost a week now. The plan was to head off to Kratie and catch some dolphines (with the eyes, not nets or anything), but Col's had a bit of illness and has been housebound for a few days. Got antibiotics today so should be back on his feet in no time. Luckily we're staying with Jo, a true angel, so at least we have the priviledge of own room and bathroom, and kitchen to make toast and stuff in. She's such a sweetie! Col was burning up with fever yesterday but looks so much better today, and not quite as many trips to the loo is required (he might kill me now though...I wasn't to mention anything about his belly..!).

The other night (before illness struck) we went with Jo to visit a orphanage... What an experience! The kids were just amazing! When we first arrived we got attacked with kisses and cuddles and everyone wanted to say hello and ask our names. The other girls (friends of Jo's, teachers and film makers) go every Tuesday, and I can see why. Just the smallest thing you do for them is so appreciated. The girls brought some toys along and they loved it! Me and Col were playing with a gang blowing bubbles. I think I got myself a favourite. Her name is Kunthea and is the sweetest thing. She's learning English and so willing to chat. And wants to cuddle, cuddle, cuddle! I'm gonna get all the details so lots of donations can be sent throught to them. Just the smallest thing can help them out lots. All the kids are picked up at the local dump where they work... They collect plastic from there, earning 7 cents (US) per kilo... Per kilo.... 7 cents... How long mustn't that take... It was so sad to leave them too... They all were so wonderful... Had the most amazing time... Earlier that day I'd visited Jo at her school too, had a great time there too. I got to be Miss Jess and paint butterflies! Ahh! The kids there though are all from welloff families so it was nice to get both experiences in.

Best head homewards to check on Col now. He was gonna have a little nap, but I just can't leave him alone too long!

Congratulations to Keithieboy too for Man of the Match. Wanna see some pictures soon!

  1. Tack för hälsningen! Fick den genom vykort till pappa Bengt. Va kul att ni kunnat fortsätta er resa världen runt, lite sugen blir man men har nog med åren blivit lite bekväm. Söker äventyret i närmiljön istället.....
O skulle ni bli sugna på att se gäss o tranor nån gång eller en guidad dyktur i Vättern så vet ni var. Välkomna tillbaka.
